Mozart

Since the death of Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart — better known as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — on December 5, 1791, numerous investigations have been conducted into the cause of his passing.

To date, 140 possible causes of death have been identified. Through my own research, I have added one more, bringing the total to 141 death certificates representing the many theories surrounding Mozart’s mysterious end.

As Albert Borowitz once remarked:
“Virtually no organ of Mozart’s body is regarded as above the suspicion of having failed in its appointed function, and, with exception of the composer’s wife, no group or individual is cleared of complicity in his death.”
