K448

Also known as Mozart's sonata for two piano's in D major.

Composed in 1781, this brilliant duet showcases Mozart's signature clarity, balance, and playful interplay between two piano's. But beyond its musical elegance, K448 has fascinated scientists for its potential cognitive effects, a phenomenon popularly known as the Mozart effect.

In 1993, researchers found that listening to this piece briefly improved spatial-reasoning skills such as mentally rotating objects, pattern recognition and alertness. Listening to K448 increases positive values in certain areas of our brain compared to silence or relaxation audio. Though the effect itself is short-lived, its impact remains great in neurological research fields and the impact music might have on our brains.
